Check out municipal hot weather plans for elderly

A Victorian shire has issued hot and/or fire weather arrangements for recipients of its In Home Support Services that could leave frail, elderly residents who rely on delivered meals, without food on very hot days.

2015 Shire Home Support hot day arrangements

ON CODE RED DAYS no service at all will be provided, and on EXTREME days, meal delivery restricted to the township, with outlying residents not attended. A notice that their meal will not arrive that day need not be given.
IF YOU HAVE AN ELDERLY or disabled relative dependent on such a service, it would be wise to check out the arrangements in your own municipality.
State defined criteria for who is eligible for delivered meals is: ‘frail older people, people with dementia, and people with disabilities who are nutritionally at risk. People who, because of age or disability, are unable to get meals for themselves’.
